Kathryn Traughber, DHA(c), MS, MLS(ASCP)CM is privileged to serve as the ASCLS Idaho Secretary. She is a healthcare operations executive and technical consultant with more than 20 years of experience advancing innovation and operational excellence in clinical pathology and laboratory medicine. Board-certified by the American Society for Clinical Pathology and a College of American Pathologists Regulatory Inspector, she is recognized for her contributions to laboratory science, including the 2014 ASCLS Graduate Research Award for research on genetic mutations in non-small cell lung cancer. Kathryn is a dedicated advocate for the laboratory profession, actively promoting its critical role in patient care, public health, and healthcare decision-making. She has led large-scale laboratory outreach operations, hospital-based laboratories, and primary care networks, consistently improving efficiency, regulatory compliance, and financial performance. She played a key leadership role in the rapid implementation of SARS-CoV-2 molecular testing across a major health system, supporting safe continuity of care during the COVID-19 pandemic. Her expertise spans strategic planning, quality assurance, revenue cycle management, service line expansion, and regulatory compliance. She holds dual bachelor’s degrees in Biology and Clinical Laboratory Science and a Master of Science in Laboratory Utilization and Management with a focus in Molecular Diagnostics from Rutgers University. She is currently pursuing a Doctor of Health Administration in Operational Leadership at Grand Canyon University, where her research examines the impact of process standardization on stakeholder satisfaction and sustainability in healthcare delivery. An Idaho native, Kathryn enjoys spending time outdoors with her two children, partner, and Labrador retriever, with interests including hiking, fishing, and exploring the natural landscape.
