ASCLS -ID PRESIDENT-ELECT POSITION DESCRIPTION
1. Purpose
- shall, during his/her term of office, familiarize himself/herself with the duties which shall evolve upon him/her as President.
2. Term of Office
- 1 year with 1 year as president and 1 year as past-president
3. Qualifications
- ASCLS Professional and Emeritus membership
- Recommended experience: Knowledge of organization (previous office or committee work), ability to delegate
4. Duties
- He/she shall be a member of the Awards & Scholarship Committee of this Society.
- shall be vice chairperson of the Board of Directors and in the absence of the president shall act as chief executive of this Society.
- He/She shall be a member of the Presidents Council, House of Delegates, and Regional Council of Region VIII of the American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science.
5. Expectations
- Meeting Attendance: Attend State, Regional, and National meetings as possible
- Deadlines: As determined by ASCLS or activities
- Average time commitment: Significant and variable
- Travel: Board meetings and conventions
- Financial considerations: Convention attendance
6. Resources
- Mentors: President, Board members, and National office
- Materials: Computer, stationery
- Helpful Hints and Suggestions: Learn to delegate and stay in constant communications with Board members and Committee Chairs
