ASCLS-ID LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT POSITION DESCRIPTION

TripleLine

I. PURPOSE

    • Encourage and facilitate development of members into new leaders, and the movement of leaders from state to regional and national positions
    • Serve as a communication link between the Regional LDC committee and the state LDC chairs

2. TERM OF OFFICE

    • 1 year

3. QUALIFICATIONS

    • ASCLS Professional or Emeritus membership and reside in the state
    • Recommended experience: Previous Board member position

4. DUTIES

    • Mentor other members to carry out their position
    • Work with President to encourage more members to become leaders in the society
    • Provide feedback to Regional LDC about state activities and issues
    • Other duties performed: Special projects that encourage leadership development such as New Member forums, Keys to the Future appointments, leadership training opportunities
    • Make recommendations for nominations or appointments to leadership positions

5. EXPECTATIONS

    • Meeting Attendance: Attend all Board meetings as necessary
    • Reports: Reports to the Board at meetings and an end of the year report
    • Deadlines: As assigned by the President
    • Average time commitment: Minimal
    • Travel: Board meetings and conventions
    • Financial considerations: Convention attendance

6. RESOURCES

    • Mentors: Board members and previous office holders (state, regional, and national)
    • Materials: LDC committee materials
    • Helpful Hints and Suggestions: Use e-mail, praise volunteers and recognize them for their achievements
