For National Laboratory Week this year, the EAAC ( Employee Advisory and Activity Committee) at the St. Luke's Meridian and Boise Laboratories decided to give back to the community . They put together a food drive, entitled "Lab Rats Pack Packs" to benefit the Idaho Foodbank's Backpack Program. This is a program that provides hungry children who have nothing to eat on the weekends with a backpack of food. The kids pick up the backpacks at school on Friday ,filled with food for the weekend, and return them to the school on Monday morning. It cost about 250 dollars to provide one child with food for a year. Over 1900 dollars was collected at the St. Luke's Boise and Meridian laboratories, which is enough to provide food for a year for almost eight hungry children! Many of the other laboratories in the Treasure Valley area also banded together and participated in the Idaho Foodbank's BackPack Program. A BIG THANK YOU to all who participated!
